HANDLING & STORAGE
DO’S
- Store indoors. If left outside, cover it with a waterproof covering.
- If a stack or bundle gets soaked in rain; separate the sheets immediately. Wipe off the water with a cloth and dry it thoroughly prior to stacking it again.
- Check the stock frequently and ensure it stays dry.
- While handling sheets, use personal protective equipment such as hand gloves and closed shoes.
- While storing, maintain a slope of minimum 50 deg; this will drain the rainwater which may penetrate the waterproof cover.
- For long-time storage, stack the sheets neatly and place them horizontally over the ground. Ensure at least 30 cm of gap between the ground and stack.
- Carefully handle the sheets while placing them to not get damaged.
DONT’S
- Never keep heavy materials stacked over sheets, as it may deform sheets.
- Avoid direct contact with soil.
- Never store sheets beside walkways.
- Avoid dragging sheets over other sheets or rough surfaces; carry them instead.
- Metal chains are not suitable for lifting sheets.
- Avoid keeping sheets vertically without proper support.
- Avoid the sheet surface from getting wet.
INSTALLATION
DO’S
- Never cut sheets/materials placing over sheets. Hot materials can damage the coating of sheets.
- Clean the debris after drilling, as it can cause rust.
- Neutral cure rubber sealants can be used as sealant material.
- Ensure proper fastening procedures are followed during installation.
- It’s recommended to clean the roof with clean water or mild detergent using a soft cloth/mop or soft nylon bristle brush to avoid swarf stain and rusts.
- Paint the structural fixtures such as pipes, angles, truss, channels before sheet installation. Zinc-coated supporting structures don’t require painting.
- Don’t fix prepainted galvalume & prepainted galvanized products directly over a cemented surface, as the lime content in cement will accelerate the corrosion.
- Ensure the rubber washer of self-drilling screws are roofing/walling material compliant.
DONT’S
- Never leave metal filings over sheets.
- Avoid direct contact with cement.
- Avoid installation during rainy days, as sheets can get wet and slippery.
- Refrain from walking over single rib sheet, end laps gutter, and skylight sheets.
- Debris over sheets should be avoided.
- Ensure the groove portion doesn’t come outside. Improper installation can cause water leakage.
- Don’t use abrasive or solvent-type clean and wire brushes, steel wool to clean the roofing sheet, as it damages the paint coating.
- Avoid the use of acetic acid-based sealants, as they emit aggressive by-products during curing.
- Don’t use your sheeted roof as a bird feeding ground, as the bird droppings can damage the aesthetics and color of the sheet.
- Avoid the use of stainless-steel screws, j-hack, and carbon washers, as they may damage the sheet.
- Avoid accumulation of dirt over the sheet.
